At Chaigeley School, we are committed to a trauma-informed approach that recognises the impact of childhood adversity on learning, behaviour and wellbeing. By creating a safe, calm and nurturing environment built on positive relationships, we support pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive mental health. Our approach is underpinned by the principles of Protect, Relate, Regulate and Reflect, with all staff trained in Trauma Informed Schools UK practices and PACE-informed communication (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Emphathy). Through tailored emotional wellbeing support, including the Motional programme, and a relational approach to behaviour, we help every pupil feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
At Chaigeley School, we use the Motional programme to assess and support pupils’ emotional health and wellbeing. Based on trauma-informed research and neuroscience, Motional provides a holistic picture of each child’s emotional development, enabling staff to deliver personalised support through targeted group and one-to-one activities that build resilience, emotional regulation and positive mental health.
