I’m Alex and I am a HLTA in Lavender class, I work alongside Callum and Libbie.

My role allows me to work with children individually during interventions as well as in groups and as a whole class. I have worked at Chaigeley for 18 months and stayed within the lower school area. This gives me a great opportunity to watch the start of the pupils’ Chaigeley journey and watch them and develop into young adults.

I love how each day is varied, I offer the children speech and language interventions, Maths and English interventions and life skills lessons. My favourite part of working at Chaigeley is creating amazing bonds with pupils and seeing how the staff and pupil rapport is outstanding across the school.

I joined the Chaigeley team in January 2024, and in my first term at school I have built some fantastic, strong relationships with staff and pupils.

I qualified as an Early Years Teacher in 2016, and after a career break to travel and live in Australia, I have returned to a school setting to be one piece of the jigsaw puzzle that makes the incredible staff team here at Chaigeley.

I recently became a mummy to my beautiful daughter Matilda, and I love musicals and singing. I am known to be slightly annoying, especially at lunch time in the canteen when I say “mmm” to all the yummy food!

I am the HLTA in Lilac class. I am responsible for completing one to one speech and language sessions plus maths and English interventions to ensure pupil progress.

I am currently teaching a fun course of life skills sessions to lilac class to help them understand the world around them and become a well rounded young citizen. This has been a very engaging subject where children have done many activities from putting out pretend fires to going to cafes in the local area and practising money exchange and social interaction.

I have worked at Chaigeley for 7 months and previous to this worked in a children’s home for complex medical health as a child key worker and support worker. I have a 1st class degree in music and PGCE in primary education and often like to use this experience to get Lilac up singing and dancing.  An example being for lilac’s recent win for “artistic interpretation” on world book day with a fun and entertaining class performance to our SLT from Matilda the musical!

My name is Jill. I’ve worked at Chaigeley for 8 years now, working with children from all of the different key stages. I initially came to Chaigeley to support children who were on outreach.

I am currently with the Year 9 students in Bonsai Class. As well as the amazing learning that takes place, we have great fun with the students and every day is different.

My most memorable trip with the students was when we recently went to Bonn in Germany to experience a new culture. We spent time exploring historical sites, sampling the local cuisine and thrill seeking in a theme park!

I have worked at Chaigeley School for a number of years, where I have worked with many pupils and different class groups. In addition to the classroom, my work has involved activities outside of the school, such as paintballing, swimming and orienteering, in a range of outdoor environments.

I have also worked in a care capacity within the school after school hours. By working in both education and care settings, I have been able to enhance my knowledge of pupils further and to continue to build positive working relations.

I have a great interest in sport, particularly football where I am qualified as a football coach, and I like to participate in gym exercise regularly to form a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy reading and I am particularly interested in sporting autobiographies and science fiction, and I am also highly skilled in art and design, which I have previously studied in higher education.

My favourite subjects are Math and English and my most memorable moment was Halloween week of 2021 when we were watching spooky movies, making Jill jump out of her skin and dissecting organs.
