PSHE

Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE) is an incredibly important subject for our pupils.

It encompasses various topics, including managing feelings, maintaining healthy bodies, coping with pressure, addressing cyber bullying, developing social skills, understanding economic wellbeing, fostering healthy relationships, and promoting awareness of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. Our PSHE curriculum adheres to the statutory framework, ensuring comprehensive coverage of these subjects.

The themes within PSHE are introduced in the Lower School and subsequently revisited and developed at age-appropriate levels during Year 8 and 9. We encourage pupils to work independently, in pairs, and in small groups, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

The new Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) framework has been introduced as a mandatory component since September 2020, further enhancing our PSHE provision.

Additionally, as part of our PSHE curriculum and within the broader school context, we prioritise teaching students how to stay safe on the Internet. This important aspect is covered through PSHE assemblies, ICT/computing lessons, and our active promotion of UK Safer Internet Day.

Moreover, as part of our comprehensive PSHE program, we regularly invite guest speakers to provide valuable insights and information on various aspects of the subject matter.
