Computing
Computing at Chaigeley School
At Chaigeley Computing is an exciting and inclusive subject that gives every student the opportunity to explore, create, and achieve. Our Computing curriculum is designed to be practical, engaging, and accessible for all learners, helping them build the confidence and digital skills they’ll need in everyday life and beyond. From Key Stage 2 through to Key Stage 4, students learn through hands-on experiences that make technology fun, meaningful, and relevant.
ICT in Key Stage 2
In Key Stage 2, students begin their Computing journey by exploring how technology works and how it can be used safely and responsibly. We want our students to be as independent as possible and provide learning through practical activities such as typing, using simple coding programs, and creating digital art and animations. Lessons are structured to build confidence, independence, and enjoyment while introducing key ideas such as online safety and how to use technology to help with learning.
ICT in Key Stage 3
As students move into Key Stage 3, they continue to develop their digital skills in creative and exciting ways. They get hands-on experience with 3D printing, bringing their own designs to life; they explore coding and game design, learning how to problem-solve and think logically; and they have the opportunity to learn about and even try drone flying in a safe and supervised setting. Students also begin to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) — discovering how machines can “learn” and how AI is used in everyday life. Throughout, lessons are adapted to meet each student’s individual needs and learning style, ensuring success and enjoyment for everyone.
