Key Stage 4 Visit to Arup

Key Stage Four students gained valuable workplace experience by visiting Arup’s Manchester branch—a global collective of designers, engineers, and consultants.

During their visit, they explored the various categories of engineering roles and learned about the support systems in place for employees’ mental wellbeing when working for a large company. They also gained insight into sustainable building practices and discovered how Arup operates differently from many corporations—employees are partners rather than shareholders, giving them a more active role in the company.

Additionally, they saw first-hand the importance of a calm and open workplace, including the use of plants, quiet seating areas, and game zones to enhance productivity and wellbeing.
