Welcome to Beech
Welcome to Beech Class!
We are a friendly and enthusiastic Year 8 class, led by our form tutor, Emma Tonge, alongside our dedicated team of teaching and support staff.
In Beech Class, we pride ourselves on creating a fun, welcoming and supportive environment where every pupil feels valued. We recognise that every child is different and aim to provide the individual support and encouragement they need to develop their confidence, independence and enthusiasm for learning.
We enjoy having fun and sharing experiences together, but we also know when it’s time to focus, work hard and rise to a challenge!
Form Team Overview
In Beech Class, we believe that learning should be both enjoyable and rewarding. We aim to create a positive and supportive environment where every pupil feels valued, encouraged and able to achieve their potential.
We particularly enjoy playing board games together, often organising friendly competitions that encourage teamwork, communication, problem-solving and a little healthy rivalry!
Forest School is another important part of our week, providing opportunities to explore the outdoors, develop practical skills and learn through hands-on experiences. From building shelters and whittling to learning about fire safety, pupils are encouraged to challenge themselves, develop resilience and build confidence in a different learning environment.
Alongside academic progress, we place great importance on developing positive relationships, independence and emotional wellbeing. We recognise the individual needs of every pupil and celebrate their achievements, however big or small.
Above all, Beech Class is a place where we can have fun, support one another and work hard towards our goals!
Things to look forward to
We have an exciting term ahead in Beech Class, with plenty of opportunities to develop new skills, explore different subjects and enjoy learning together!
This half-term, we will be exploring a range of interesting topics across the curriculum:
-
English: We will be reading and analysing Roald Dahl’s classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, using the story to inspire our own fiction and non-fiction writing.
-
Maths: We will be revisiting place value and the four operations before moving on to explore probability and ratio.
-
Science: Our focus will be on Chemistry, exploring atoms, states of matter and the key scientific vocabulary associated with these topics.
-
RE: We will be learning about Buddhism, exploring important celebrations and discovering the significance of Buddhist artwork.
